SHEDDIN’

After an incredible start to the season in North Dakota, the temperatures warmed up for a few days and the deer hunting action slowed down tremendously. With the second cold front of the season rolling in on the 9th, it was time to get back to business. Everyone else had packed up and headed back to Wisconsin leaving myself and JP in camp looking to notch another tag. With JP up to bat, we headed into a spot that we call "Bingo" which set up perfectly for the NW winds that once again brought us the cool air that we were waiting for. With a few good bucks on camera, we were hopeful that one of them was due to make a mistake with the weather change. A few does moved early and it was about 30 minutes before dark when we caught this buck coming out of the cattails and heading our direction. We will never forget the sight of watching this buck close the gap with his velvet hanging off of his rack. We actually had pictures of him early that same morning in full velvet. He must have been working on getting it off shortly before we laid eyes on him because it was hanging all over his rack when he showed up that evening. JP made the shot count and the deer ended up expiring less than 80 yards from our tree. Chalk up another great hunt in North Dakota!
