SUCCESS AT THE WATER HOLE

Elliott Smith was hopeful that he would draw the coveted Iowa archery tag this year, and when he did, his excitement was through the roof.  With access to a couple of permission farms, Elliott began gathering intel on the deer herd earlier this summer.  After several mature deer were showing up, a hit list was formed.  The goal was to shoot a buck that was at least 5.5 years old.  After a few unsuccessful trips, anticipation was high for his late October hunt.  This particular buck had been showing himself regularly at a water hole.  The guys settled in for the evening, and just before dark, the buck came strolling by and Elliott made a great shot!
